stoStone Brewing - Double Bastard AleLove the name, love the bottle, loved the beer. I’ve had some of their other ales and enjoyed them as well. This one poured up with a wonderful head that kept growing afterwards. The color was a cloudy brownish liquid with just a hint of red. The aroma warned me of what I was only hoping for in the taste. Hops. I got them too. The beer was chilled and I drank it as soon as that head faded away a bit. The hops rolled in and were strong and balanced with the rest of the beer. Most beers that have a strong hop taste will give that to you at the end of your drink. This is like a backwards beer. The taste I first got was hops, then I got the roasted malts. The hops covered any sweetness that may have been in the malts making it all about the hops. I really recommend this beer, and by their label it is made to be aged, so you can get it now, and drink it much later!
