Love the name, love the bottle, loved the beer. I’ve had some of their other ales and enjoyed them as well. This one poured up with a wonderful head that kept growing afterwards. The color was a cloudy brownish liquid with just a hint of red. The aroma warned me of what I was only hoping for in the taste. Hops. I got them too. The beer was chilled and I drank it as soon as that head faded away a bit. The hops rolled in and were strong and balanced with the rest of the beer. Most beers that have a strong hop taste will give that to you at the end of your drink. This is like a backwards beer. The taste I first got was hops, then I got the roasted malts. The hops covered any sweetness that may have been in the malts making it all about the hops. I really recommend this beer, and by their label it is made to be aged, so you can get it now, and drink it much later!

This is the final Warbird brew that I collected from my trip to Indiana. The yellow/orange beer filled my glass and the head almost over took it. The aroma very similar to other wheats, it has a light sweetness with hints of lemon. The taste is light, and definitely has some lemon taste to it. The carbonation level of this is quite high. I don’t think this is the best of wheats, but it’s not the bottom of the list by any means.

This beer poured up a darker color than expected. The head was like a cream stout, very thick and very small bubbles. The aroma gave off a bit of that creamed beer smell, and the malts came through a bit. The taste was extremely good. The malts were roasted perfectly to give it a sweetness that led into a bitter with the hops. The whole thing ended without much of an after taste making me only want more. The alcohol taste came through just a bit, as the hops covered most of all of it. This is one of the best Irish Ales I have had.

So I’m walking though the store and happened to run into this lovely lady named Matilda. At first she seemed plain and I almost missed her. She ended up coming home with me, finding her way into my kitchen. A lovely color and aroma surrounded her, and I poured her into a glass. The color, a bit reminiscent of a roasted wheat, cloudy with a distinct amber color. The taste was phenomenal! Sweet at the front, filling the mouth with a light roasted maltiness that is hard to top. Finishing mild, allowing the taste to fade nicely giving time to savor this creation from Goose Island. My only disappointment: I didn’t buy the 6-pack.

A strange aroma of fruit, maybe apricots, comes off the glass with this strong selection from Tröegs. the amber color is topped off by a thick head that stuck to the side of the glass as I finished this one pretty quickly. With the artwork and name like Nugget Nectar, the dry hop taste throughout was perfect and was a nice change from my malty preferences. Classic amber malts of an amber with that extra kick of hops, it was a good choice. You did taste and feel the ABV being an imperial style, a little too much for me.

Another Warbird today. This one is their Red Ale, and the name matches the color of the beer this time! The head on this one also faded quickly into nothing atop of a deeper red/brown brew. The richer aromas of malts where present in this one. The taste had a bite of hops to it, but the roasted malts flavor kept up with it. They say no aftertaste on their site, and there really isn’t one, but for a moment I did get an extra hit of hops on this one. I don’t think it would be as widely liked as yesterday’s Gold, but that’s just my opinion!
