First of all I love the black label, it reminds me of a Jack Daniel’s label. The bottle itself looked black when the beer once occupied it’s space. The head of this beer filled up exactly the empty space of my glass and went down to a nice tan covering of the top. The color of course is black. The aroma is much sweeter than I would have guessed. I was looking for a deep roasted smell, not in this one. I don’t get much of the roasted flavor in the taste either. Perhaps they added black food coloring instead of roasting? It does not have a crisp taste either. It is as someone mixed a porter and a lager, and lost the best parts of both and got this so-so beer. I have a few more singles of Shiner that I will do in the upcoming week, so if you are a fan, stop back and let me know your favorite.
