Continuing on with our impromptu numbered beer theme, the Lucky 13. This ‘Red Ale’ as labeled on the bottom held more to it than just a red ale. The pour showed the nice red color, along with a soapy head that took a bit of time to fade away. This head also stuck to the side of the glass while drinking which left a obviously used empty glass. The aroma was that of the last dry hopped beer I had, fresh and hoppy. The taste is what surprised me. I did not expect the bitter hops from a red ale labeled beer. Perhaps I should look for that IBU on the bottle next time. Good bitters, large bottle, and 8.3% ABV?! That is what makes a beer great!
