New Belgium - 1554 Enlightened Black AleThis New Belgium beer poured up a very dark red/brown, almost black like the name, but not quite depending on how the light hit it. The aroma has a familiar sweet smell that I cannot place. The taste is very nice. The best way I can describe it is that it has the sweetness of a bock, but the chocolate tastes of a porter. This mix is not something that I have had before, or at least that I remember. I believe that was one of my main purposes of this blog was to document my beer likes/dislikes so that I don’t end up buying a bad beer twice! This is one to have again if I can find it in my area, or send people after it when visiting the central US.

Specs: 12oz bottle
5.6% ABV
