A gorgeous Scottish ale from Orkney Brewery of Scotland, I knew I had to try this just from the name. There is a rich malty aroma that really adds to the fullness of this Scottish ale. At sweet malted barley flavor at first leads to a more mellow yet stronger full flavor somewhat like a barleywine. On the end, a the maltiness fades and the hops lighten the body at the last moment. There isn’t a clean finish and the fullness lingers for a good time, but you won’t have to endure that until your glass is gone; you’ll be back at the glass to finish the Skullsplitter.
