Ispwich - Dark AleA mysterious name, but trust me, this is no ‘mystery beer’. Dark Ale pours smooth with little head that takes some time to settle. Perhaps not best shown in the photo, but the color is a brown with deep reds. An aroma of somewhat like toffee, which is not the most tantalizing odor, had me very interested and I could hardly wait to drink this one - it didn’t quite taste like it smelled. At first there was a sweetness and strong roasted flavor, but these bitters leave a taste that isn’t the most pleasant. Honestly, it seemed like burnt toast. I drank this without food, but I might suggest a well seasoned or spicy dish to serve with this. I think it would go well and bitters wouldn’t be nearly so prominent on the pallet.
