I thought I was worthy, but apparently not. If you don’t have a love affair with hops, don’t try this; you may just get sick. It’s really hoppy on the end, I suggest serving as cold as possible. REALLY hoppy. If you can get by that, perhaps you could pick out some other flavors, but I couldn’t. Too challenging for me to finish, I actually couldn’t stand to finish off the one glass I had poured.

So many legs… so little time! Well, that’s what the bottle says at least. This robust porter has the flavor of strong roasted malts, making it almost smokey to the taste. Strong malts including chocolate make this a pretty heavy beer, I can hardly taste any hops at all. I’m not at all disappointed in this porter; a smooth full taste that is blacker than my morning coffee. Keeping up this site can be summed up quite like the motto on the bottle: So many beers… so little time!

Wow! I bet you are as tried from reading that name as I was to type it! This started off scary with the pour. I thought someone colored Sprite because of the quick build and fall of the head while it was popping and fizzing. The beer had an ever so sweet smell, like that of a summer day and a good freezing cold Miller Light. As for anything special on taste, well no. This has an ‘everyday’ type of beer taste to it. I do not see the reason to go out and purchase this more expensive micro for the same taste you can buy 24 (or more) or the other stuff. I believe the marketing department of this brewing company is to blame. A thick stock of paper for the label, greatly decorated packaging, and if you look closely, I think it is a celebrity on the bottle. So spend your money on the appearance, and forget about the taste should be their new logo. I just spent a minute finding their website…for a good laugh click here

Beware! Very strong, very pale! Double Dog is a double pale ale from Flying Dog brewery. I figured that Flying Dog hasn’t let me down, so I’d give this one a try. Strong and flavorful hops with a clean taste gives this beer a strong hoppiness that mellows quite quickly after the drink. You may want to leave that last sip in your glass however as the cloudiness is not due to the cleanliness of your glass, but the unfiltered nature of Double Dog. Even though I am not a big fan of pales, this is quite enjoyable as it as a similar taste to the Belgian Triple brewed by Buckeye Brewing. Now go enjoy this double pale!

Wow! I forgot to smell this one first and the first drink took me off guard. This has a similar taste to another beer I’ve had recently, with a “spicy” flavor. There are a lot of hops and this amber ale packs a big punch with a strong 8% ABV. There are some caramel tones and smooth malts to round out this great ale which has won numerous awards in the 90’s.

On a separate note, I’d like to congratulate Jon who is taking a couple days off due to the birth of his beautiful baby girl! Cheers to you and your lovely wife!
This brewery just north of New Orleans was not destroyed by the hurricanes of the past years and has been producing beer in small batches using on site spring water to brew their beers. Turbo Dog has a nut scent, but its the combination of chocolate and toffee flavors that make this an enjoyable drink. Neither heavy or light, it’s no wonder this dark and somewhat sweet beer is one of Abita’s flagship brews.

This cloudy Amber Ale from Dark Horse Brewing Co. was a bit surprising. Their website says they use a special Belgium style yeast that give the beer its unique taste. It is very ‘yeasty’ and tastes almost unfiltered. A mild taste of honey and cloves without an overpowering hop bite makes this beer quite enjoyable.
